Dr Prathima Moorthy is a leading pain management specialist and visionary health care entrepreneur committed to transforming the treatment of acute and chronic pain. Dr Moorthy is one of the few pain specialists performing the Intracept Procedure to treat low back pain due to vertebrogenic pain.
Dr Moorthy is a native of Madison, Wisconsin. Dr Moorthy was accepted for the PEG program and was able to complete her undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude at the age of seventeen. She was subsequently accepted to the highly prestigious Pre Irta research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. She received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
She subsequently completed an internal medicine internship at Johns Hopkins University. She completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She was the recipient of numerous awards such as the the Alan B Scott Award, the Lewis Lewitt Research award and was nominated for chief resident. She became drawn to pain management when completing several rotations with the pain management department at MD Anderson Hospital.
She is a Fellowship Trained Interventional Pain Management Physician with special interests in Neuromodulation including Spinal cord Stimulation as well as other minimally invasive spinal techniques such as Ifuse and Intracept for patients suffering from low back and leg pain.
Dr Moorthy emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to pain management and is an expert in various diagnostic specialties and treatments of complex pain associated with spinal and vertebral pathologies. Dr Moorthy offers a premier level of specialized care using the most up to date medical advances, regenerative therapies and natural treatments to relieve pain, restore function and improve quality of life.
She is know for pushing the boundaries of conventional care and developing innovative treatment solutions and following a patient centered treatment approach to healing.
Dr Moorthy is a participating member of multiple professional organizations dedicated to the advancement of the field of Interventional Pain Management. She is also a member of the Collier County medical society where she lectures at conferences in regard to advances in the field. She holds an unrestricted medical License in the state of Florida.
Dr Moorthy founded Pain Management Center of Naples in 2006. She is managing director at Collier Endoscopy and Surgery center since 2008. She has has cofounded and is a principal medical investigator and site medical director at the Southwest Florida Pain Management Research Center. She is currently participating in clinical trials for stem cell treatments for management of spinal pain.
She is a black belt in karate, a classically trained violinist and enjoys practicing yoga and Reiki. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and three children in the outdoors.
